Greetings, and welcome to our school.

Wakefield Country Day School is a college preparatory day school serving preschool through twelfth grade. The curriculum emphasizes scholarship in the classical tradition.
Our close knit community is comprised of students, faculty, and families who have embraced our mission of personal and academic excellence. WCDS develops character and intellect through the application of a structured curriculum founded on classical principles that encourage scholarship, self-control, and respect for and service to others. While non-sectarian, we foster an ethic of individual worth, service, and personal responsibility rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition to prepare our graduates for the moral and intellectual rigors of citizenship in the twenty-first century. We offer students rigorous challenge within a nurturing and family-like environment.
The school was founded in 1972 by the late William E. Lynn, Jr. and his wife, Pamela. It was incorporated in 1991, and is governed by an elected board of directors drawn from parents, faculty, alumni, the Lynn family, and community members.
We are a community rich in traditions which are uniquely Wakefield, such as The Great 100s, the Five Pillar program, Word of the Day, and Wakefield Courtesies. These traditions collectively and affectionately are integral to what we call the "Wakefield Way."
We hope you will consider visiting our school. We offer tours each day and have periodic open houses. Feel free to contact our Admissions Office for further information.
