The Mission
The motto of Wakefield Country Day School, Virtus et Sapientia, (virtue and wisdom), indicates our conviction that intellectual and moral development is inseparable in the educational process. The mission of Wakefield Country Day School is to develop each student's character and intellect through active involvement in a structured curriculum founded on classical principles and in an environment that encourages scholarship, diligence, self-discipline, and respect for and service to others. WCDS cultivates an ethic of individual worth, responsibility, and service rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition, in order to prepare students for the moral and intellectual rigors of citizenship in a free society.

At WCDS we bring our mission to each student through our 5 Pillars program. Through this program, students in grades 8-12 set and achieve personal goals in five critical areas: intellect, culture, service, fitness, and virtue. Lower school teachers develop class goals and plans in each of these areas.
